I've been wanting to go to lake grapevine and try some new lures and techniques to see if they might work. I keep hearing that crankbaits and rat-l traps work really well, but I want to try something different. Could anyone give me some ideas for large mouth?

I dont fish there often but I have done well with shakey head worms around any rocks you can find.
As far as what is the least common thing thrown on the lake?? Hard to say. I bet not very many people throw 12 inch worms or 3 inch worms.

I have done well with drop shot. usually fishing deep, not much to hang you, and Grapevine does have its fair share of light biters. Here are a couple Grapevine drop shot fish on video. first one only about a 3 pounder, one at 2:15 almost went 6.

Chartrues Roadrunners, the ones with the blade built into the head. over sized curly tail . believe it or not they work wonders on the vine, and if you get tired you can throw them for sandies as well
