Took my father fishing today. Started really slow with a wake up call to a 18.2 lb Buffalo that was snagged in the back. shocked After about 45 min of chasing it with the trolling motor got it in and off . Around 1:30 we went across to a point we like to fish and caught a few sandies and graphed some heavy activity in 32ft of water with the fish from 18-26 ft. So I talked him into long lining with some 14-16 angry shad cranks. Second attempt my dad sceams, and bout loses his rod. Well I look and then look back and notice a huge splash a hundred yards or so back. He fights the rod for about ten min and gets his catch about 20 yards from the boat and it comes straight up out of the water and is the biggest bass Ive seen in RH. He tucks his rod down and stays with it. Well it had pulled out prolly 30-40 yds and was coming back to the boat. I have the net ready and see him again. He tries turning her to the boat and she's not having it. She ducks around and down and I see the back of the crank come loose and get nervous. Well by this point she is tired but not ready so she goes down again. When I see her shape I extend the net and finally get her. Soon as I see she is in the net I see the crank laying beside her completely out. Seems she straightened both hooks that had her.

Well I weigh her with a mech. scale and she is just over ten pounds. I get the digital and she is bouncing from 9.14oz-10.05oz. My dad wants pics but the camera had gotten so hot it wouldnt work. So since I had prepped the live well and couldnt hold her in the water I put her in the live well and closed the lid. He wants to get her weighed and measured so I haul [censored] to BPS. Now I know some of you will have negative comments and disagree with how this happens from here but I really dont care. My dad was on cloud 9 and is old. I value his wants and desires alot more than someone else's word.....So. We get him to the dock and after about 45 min they finally get the scale down to the dock. Well it was rough today and so was the dock. They couldnt get it to zero out and were having touble getting it to read steady. Im really nervous at this point because I wanna take her back and release her but I know time is not on our side. We stick her on their scale and its bouncing all over. Its reading from 9.35-10.15 but went steady a time or two at 9.75.
The manager tells my dad they want the fish and make several attemps to keep her. I tell him not to. We get ready to leave and she is not looking the best anymore. So he decides to let them have her and try to revive her inside and see if she makes it instead of putting her back weak. Anyways He was and still is super excited and just thought I would share cause I know its a big catch for RH. Did BPS offer to get your father a replica made? I think they do that with fish that are taken there. Maybe someone will chime in that knows more about their procedures.

That is beautiful fish and congrats to your father.

I told him to tell them that would be the only way but he said he'd wait to see. They took all his info so he is gonna wait a litte while to see . They did send out a handful of people out to look because they thought we were full of Sh&^.

And yea Shawn, He is still talking about it. Poor guy started shaking first time it came up.
