Our house in the country is sometimes host to some strange critters. This year in addition to crickets and grasshoppers we have spiders. I have to be careful when I pick up things in the garage to avoid recluses and black widows and in the house I find big spiders about 2 inches in diameter. They are not poisonous, but if you mess with them they will give you a painful bite with the pincers. Here are shots of two different species I found this morning.

Are those two different species of wolf spiders? The one on the right looks to be the most common in my area.

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

I do not know what species they are. Like you, I call the one on the right a wolf spider but I am sure that is not the proper name. Any experts out there?

Other than getting old (75) and deaf with Meniere's disease and a weak heart I am well. Thanks for asking.

Since I got some interest in the spiders I did some research. Both the spiders are wolf spiders. There are many kinds of wolf spiders, and they are actually slightly venomous.

A good Spider Reference Chart .

Spiders are not poisonous, they are venomous, and all spiders are venomous. (just most are not dangerous to humans)

Any critter will bite you when you corner it and it feels threatened.

There actually is a family of spiders with no venom.

I found this one on my camper. I think its a banana spider. I to have seen big wolf spiders this year. Look at the web on this one its like a ladder.
Gave him/her a grass hopper and man it jumped on that in seconds and covered it in web.

The one on your camper is Argiope aurantia, it has several common names.
