What kind of FF are you mounting?. In the hull is fine with traditional sonar but your water temp will not be correct. Thats what most of the guys are doing. I had my transducer in the hull of my Mantaray and it was ok. I have the transducer on my Mariner mounted to a transducer deployment arm that I made myself. It gets a much better reading like this.

You can shoot through the hull and it works pretty well. I have mine set up with both so when I run a shallow creek chasing sandies in the the spring. Since I have been in the open lake I moved it to the out side mounted where the rudder would be since it has the threaded inserts. I have noticed a big difference with it mounted outside the yak.

mine would work one minute and stop the next. Don't know if its how I thru hull mounted or my transfixed but 100% better since I moved it.

The PVC works out really well. I have to get a picture in a min, but the PVC will flex when I hit something.

I used a heat gun and vise to flatten out the PVC. Since I always have small pieces PVC laying around from work. FF by Texas big redneck, on Flickr
