Has anyone ever tried this technique in the summer? Or what about hovering in and around a brushpile? I know that it is more popular when fish are scattered, but I was thinking about this for fish that may not be on the brush but close to it. What are yall's thoughts?

Your thinking is correct....it is a great way to catch fish for all the reasons you mention.

It does have a draw back in the summer if you fish crowded lakes. When there are so many boat wakes the lake becomes a wash tub, go with the single rod method......this usually occurs in the summer...at least on the lakes I fish.

I didn't take that into consideration. But it makes sense and thanks for the tip. The tip is well noted.
