I will be staying at Caddo this weekend and plan on doing some fishing. I haven't ever bass fished it much and just wondered what has been working out there lately? Not asking for your honey hole just maybe someone could point me in the right direction, please.

The only thing that worked for us a few weeks ago when we went was packing up and heading to Fork. Nailed some nice ones at Fork too so it was a good call. Good luck!

Not trying to steal this thread but I'll be heading to Caddo as well and would love to hear from anyone that has fished it lately. I used to fish it often with some good success but it's been a couple years.

was there just before the fourth, and this what i got for ya. get up early so that you can be fishing at first light. find a ditch and get well away from the main river, get way back up in the flat shallow area. throw a topwater frog and pitch a creature bait along the edges of the ditches and watch for bait, if there is bait scattering in the middle of the ditch they are feeding and chasing. this bite should slow down a little after the sun gets over the trees or at least it did for me. after that ease outta there head up government ditch and when you get to the end of it start flippin those docks with a jig and continue to work your way up river. as long as its bright and hot this should work, good luck and be sure to take some time to enjoy where you are, it's a special place out there even when the fish don't cooperate.

I was down there all last week. I didnt catch much on the lake. I normally fish the pads this time a year and tear them up on frogs but not this year. The shad are everywhere right now though so that may be why the lake was unproductive for me. However I did get on a pretty good bite in the river anywhere from 4 to 8 ft with chartruse shad colored crank baits. Most of the shad I found were around 2 to 2 1/2" long. Most of the fish I caught were on a point or ledge tapering into a cut.

Bite is tough due to alot of shad. Its not been good at all. I know a guide trip that had 3 people only had 2 fish 2 weeks ago. I wouldn't worry bout fishing pads. I can't buy a bite in them. All fish we found were on trees and had 2 at boat come off that were 8 to 9 range a piece. Only descent bites we had

The conditions were the secret. A bluebird day and it would have been a different post entirely. I miss that lake. I haven't fished it since college. Where were you getting bit on frogs? Pads? Grass?

Last time I was out was right before the fourth and the fishing was slow and no current. I'm not sure about the status of the lake right now, but if there is some current, find a few of the places where clean water is flowing into the murky water and fish it, with baby brush hogs, brush hogs, and other creature type baits.
