Are there still big lakes at Clumbia Lakes in West Columbia? I used to fish those lakes back when I was a kid, ver nostalgic for me. Bought shiners at Hal's Bait shop (Hal was blind but go around fine) and then rented a boat at the marina and caught lots of bass. My dad had property there when it was a country club. I saw a thread that said it was a sporting club, but the links are dead. Lakes look dried up on Google maps.

What's up with this place these days?

The lakes are sold and now private. I have guided out there for a couple of years for the owner but he has now sold them to another guy. You can still golf tennis so on but not fish. The lakes are still good they almost dried up but have had a ton of rain and are now full again.

Wow, private huh? I remember catching a 7 pound bass on a Rebel topwater one early morning on the right hand lake (right hand when standing at the marina looking at the boats). It was in the far left corner, a deep hole of I recall. I loved that place, too bad its not fishable.

Yep the lakes are awesome we caught a ton of fish every day. The lakes are all together now we cut the levy to each lake so we could fish all the lakes and drive from one to the other. We use 20ft Bass Cats boats in there for the clients put in a boat ramp at the marina.

So do you still guide there?

No he sold it to a new guy don't know him but I heard he bought them so he and his Dad would have a nice place to fish must be nice LOL!! I do know it's still private no one can fish it.
