I'll be down there as well. I'm hard-headed enough to fish despite some rain. Hoping to get into some bull reds.

Monday focus of heavy rain was Beaumont to Louisiana. Tues, Wed it was mid coast to Freeport. Thurs it was Houston area. Today it is Beaumont to Louisiana again. Each day has produced areas or 8-15" of rain. The surface trof has been wobbling along the coast and movement of 50-100 miles moves the focus of the heavy rain. Flip your lucky quarter for where or if it rains over the weekend.

I got a chance to check out some water when it was pouring here in Baytown a couple days ago.

It was the first time I have ever seen streaks of fresh water among the salty water in Cedar Bayou, there were bands moving along with the rest of the water, not mixing very quickly.

Don't know what caused it, the water density or temperature, but it was very distinct.

.....saw some pics posted yesterday of limits of some nice trout in the 4-6lb range caught in the rain yesterday over shell in the middle part of the bay. Remember, the fresh water that is running off for the next few days will be up top of the water column....so fish deeper where it's starting to get fresh.
Down at SLP and on the north shoreline this stuff has had almost no effect on the bite.

Most of the freshwater hasn't reached the bays yet. Creeks, bayous and rivers in Houston area are cresting today, unless we get more rain.

But it's the weekend. Go drown some bait and have fun.

Congrats on the good trip. What part of the dike did you fish?

We went to rollover pass caught 3 specks 18-20 inch range, tore up the sand trout on shrimp and fish bites. Caught 2 keeper flounder and threw back couple reds that needed to grow a little. some guys wading in the surf and looks like they got their limit.

I fished the Pass and Chocolate everyday this last week and the water is fine. Had some good Trout action on topwaters and soft plastics in between thunder storms. Loved the cooler temps too.

I went Saturday to West Bay and kayaked for the first time.
The water was a little murky (only clear for about 6-8 inches).

I only caught 1 Flounder (18") on a Red/White HH 1/2oz Shrimp.
