It's a Hunter system. Zone 4 will not shut off completely, even after the system has run all zones, 9 zones total. #4 has a trickle going.
Bad valve?? If so, I am not sure where the valve is, due to it covered in grass now. I do have a metal detector I could use to locate it I guess.
Thoughts??

Ok, ball is back in your court COFF. I shut the supply off to the system till I can find the valve. Hopefully that's all it is... Time to dust off the metal detector and start poking around.

A detector might find it. Look in the area of the zone issue. Otherwise you will need valve locator.
Sounds like the diaphragm is weeping. Rebuild the valve.

Thanks for the feedback. Hunters tech site showed a video with a bad diaphram or debris as the possible culpritas mentioned.
Will check it out once I loacate the valve.

I found my valves by having someone turn on each zone as I watched for the first sprinkler in the zone to pop up. I would then probe around that sprinkler. I found all 12 zones that way.

Ok, I found both the hidden/covered valves with the metal detector. New problem exist now. One valve is somewhat covered with dirt and I can't get to the screw top of of it. I am afraid if I dig around to much to loosen the dirt, I may pinch or tear up a wire. Can't reach the screw cap on top of the valve to loosen it. Is there a tool I can buy for this that will reach down in the hole and grasp to spin it off??

just dig it out, with a screw driver and your hand. Nothing to worry about that cant or should be replaced anyway.
