I can't help you for bank fishing but maybe tomasc will chime in here. If looking for a guide check with Steve (leanin post).

There is a lot of shallow structure around lake Waco. It should hold some fish this time of year. Probably not as many as the deeper bite but most times of the year it should be good and easy to access.

There are some piles you can reach from the bank with a slip cork rig. Problem is knowing exactly where they are. If there's not a marker on them, you're casting blindly hoping you get close enough. There's 3 on the south end of Speegleville Park area you can cast to from the bank, but you got to know where they are. Lots of boaters know where those piles are. Maybe go to the park and watch the boats and see where they stop for crappie and get a location on the pile.

Ken is right! I forgot about those! They are not far off the bank & protected from the south wind! Well, my daughter and I went to take a gander.... using this set-up, they love this jig under the bridges! we sat to the left of this spot and casted out that way and that way tried everywhere from 10-14 ft deep, but just couldn't find the brush, I know it's there because I put it there. Last summer we did really well there, not sure what happened....

There are tons of perch under the 84 bridge. I took my kids a couple weeks ago and we caught around 40 or so in just a few hours. I'm still hunting for bank spots to catch crappie as well. Tomasc, was kind enough to tell me about a few spots, but I'm having the same problems as Ken Gaby mentioned, just not knowing exactly where to cast.

I hear that people catch crappie from the bank at the park behind the spillway/dam.

Hey Tx jeep, I'm not sure about bank fishing but if you would like to take you and your son Crappie Catching, contact me and we will have a ball. I just got my boat back 6 days ago and we have caught over 165 Crappie in 4 trips. I guarantee to catch or we go again at no charge. www.thecrappieking.com

Find a cheap two man kayak on CL and then you will be able to hit some spots easy.
