We have had 6-15" of rain in Harris county since Monday. The first 3-4" soaked into dry ground. Now we have runoff.
Its been raining hard from the middle coast up to Sabine. How much will this impact bay fishing?

It could push them toward the jetties, and the passes. The salt water will be tea colored.

What species of fish will stay in a bay with low salinity?

If you can get 4-5 miles north of the Colorado the surf and water quality should be good. We haven't had much wind this week, other than in Tstorms.

I was checking out Cedar Bayou today and you could actually see the streaks of fresh water that ran into the brackish water, not really mixing at all, just moving towards the bay.

FRIDAY EAST WINDS AROUND 5 KNOTS. BAY WATERS SMOOTH. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.
FRIDAY NIGHT SOUTHEAST WINDS AROUND 5 KNOTS. BAY WATERS SMOOTH. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.
SATURDAY SOUTHEAST WINDS AROUND 5 KNOTS. BAY WATERS SMOOTH. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.
SATURDAY NIGHT SOUTH WINDS 5 TO 10 KNOTS. BAY WATERS SMOOTH. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.
SUNDAY SOUTH WINDS 5 TO 10 KNOTS. BAY WATERS SMOOTH. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.

....I live five minutes from a bayou and ten minutes from Galveston Bay. Fished the last three days, but stayed home today. There is some run off but it's not as bad a what they will be getting farther down the coast. Chocolate Bayou and Bay are going to be looking just like the name for the next few days. West Bay and north of the Causeway have been productive, as has been the Dike area. Gigged seven nice flatties night before last until we were run up under a bridge to wait out a pile of lightning that came through about 03:00 night before last. Some very nice trout have been caught at night with moving water under the lights at the Causeway. Good friend went this morning in his yak with a friend into Clear Lake and both caught limits of flounder as well as a few slot reds. With the rains we have had the fresh water, as always, will be up top so shell pads around the mid bay wells north of the causeway should be productive if the tide is moving. Snagged three reds and two trout Tuesday afternoon over Todds Dump in the San Leon area drifting with live shrimp. I also saw an amazing sight that I hadn't seen before on the south side of San Leon. Water was "trout green" and there were dink trout popping all around us. Saw what I thought was a big red and it turned out to be six of the biggest drum i had ever seen! Just cruising along and they came within five feet of the Skeeter and acted like they owned the Bay!! Water should be fine as most of the heavy rains were either north west of Houston or to the South towards Danbury.
.....I'd say "GO FISHING!" as I'll be out there this weekend as well.
...so good it tastes like it died screaming!

http://galvestondailynews.com/story/327806Experienced anglers take advantage of the runoffs by fishing at or near the mouths of drains or other inlets of water into the bay system. East Bay, in particular, has a number of drains that fishing guides rush to following heavy downpours. Small finfish and crustaceans are washed out of the marshes and wetlands and into the bay where hungry predator fish, like trout and reds, are awaiting their arrival with baited breath.
