I am taking my nephew to Estes Park, CO in August. (Fire permitting) I am looking into a decent rod/reel combo setup for him. Don't want to invest big time until we know it is something he will love to do. Any thoughts on brands or where to buy. Thinking a 8'6" 5wt, 2 or 4 pc shouldn't matter too much at this point. Under $150 ideally.
Calling Fly Fishing a hobby is like calling Brain Surgery a job.

Bass Pro Shops Dogwood Canyon combos are a good outfit for a reasonable price.

I have both of these and they are great, and very good price points: $80 for combo including line/backing/leader Three Forks Combo $150 for combo including backing/line and a great case RLS Combo

I can build you a custom 3 piece 5 weight for about $135, complete with a nickel silver reelseat with wood insert and either snake guides or the one foot guides for lightness; would not include reel or line-p-

I just bought a combo from Wild Water Flyfishing and it is great. Rod, Real, line and backing with a nice case and water proof fly box with two flies for $109
