Can you give me some ideas on when it might be a good time to use off the bank?

How well do they float compared to a cigar bobber? How much weight till it goes under? You haven't built any yet but these are some questions I have.

I don't get it either. What's the purpose of these tennis ball floats? The link doesn't explain how they are to be used. What do you tie to the swivel? About the only way I can see it used is if you had a 3 way swivel on your line and tied this to one of the swivel. If that's the case, I agree with Opus - there are much better ways to accomplish this.

Thanks for sharing though!! It's always cool to see what people can come up with.

Not saying it's a bad idea, just don't really understand it. It's always good to keep your eyes open for new ideas. Never know when you are going to find the next best gadget!!

I use big casting corks with my surf rod and can cast them along ways. They are floats with about 2 oz of lead on them meant for casting weight. I think the tennis ball is of the same principle. Meant to be cast for a distance.

I can kind of see how it could be used. If you look at the top of the page it says something to the affect of: Float for casting with surfcasting gear.
This kind of makes sense to me. The tennis ball is heavy, it should cast well. Not a ton of flotation though.

I bet you could cast that sucker a long ways. I was thinking that you used it kinda like a slip bobber, with your line running through the eye of the swivel, but nothing is mentioned on any sort of stop for it. I am sure you could figure something out for it though.

Put on a nightcrawler, open the bell, toss it up and hit it with a tennis racquet! Talk about a long cast!

I bet you could fashion something like that to a golf ball...use it on a calm day because I don't think it weighs too too much... and hit that with a tennis racket... You could hit that a Kansas Mile!

Or a golf club... i can drive a golfball 250 yards. I could probably get 100 yards out of one tied to a hook.
