I replaced mine last December. Like many of you I did a lot of research and based on the good reviews I decided to go with Maxxis. They are more expensive, but if they hold up well for several years, they will be worth it.

Keep in mind one thing about the car tires. When I was looking at tires I asked about the car tires and Discount Tire told me they would not warranty them if I put them on a trailer.

This is the order I'd put trailer tires in, from best to worst:

-kuhmo
-maxxis
-triangle
-Carlisle
-gy marathon

Not saying that Carlisle or marathons suck, I'd run them, but they're further down the list.

Just had to get rid of my towmasters. They worked fine, but went bald in about a year and a half.

Kumho makes a trailer tire? I'll have to check that out.

Yeah Ray it only comes in 14" though. But it's the best out there, highest rated speed.

A couple of trailers with Goodyear marathons on them. Zero issues. One trailer with Carlisles, big issues.

My last 3-4 boats all had Triangle tires installed when the factory ones went bad. I will continue to use them. have yet to have a failure and they hold up well despite lots of miles towing. Great tires at a crazy low price. I usually get mine at Cowsewr Tire in Ft. Worth and I know of least 8-10 guys that switched to Triangle and have yet to hear the first bad word. I pay retail for mine just like the next guy so i gain nothing by saying anything about them. Just damn good tires at an affordable price.

I run Triangle brand tires as well. Great luck so far and very affordable. Got mine from Cowser Tire in Ft Worth as well. Excellent service from those guys and they are part of the fishing community

Based on some of the low milage and a-typical tire wear some are describing it might not hurt to have your axles alligned and or tuned. Trailer tires should get alot more miles on them than what some are describing. Anyone having trouble in the Houston area can PM me, I know a guy that is in the trailer building bizz and can get you fixed up.

I've run marathons for as long as I can remember. They're not what they used to be imo. Had a near brand new one come apart on me about a month ago.

What ever you get, get it through discount. They're the shizle. Got a new one (without road hazard) for $15.

Carlisle has a new trailer tire called the Radial RH.
It has been completely redesigned.
For you guys that have had problems with Carlisle trailer tires in the past, this is a completely different tire.

I just went through same issue and had Marathons. Did a lot of research and talk to every boat owner I knew and tire dealer possible. Opinions were varied. In the end, I purchased Carlisle Trailer tires and have had no problems. Purchased them from Discount because they are everywhere just in case I have a problem and customers service was great.
