All,
I wanted to get your opininions on trailer tires. I have a tandem axle ranger trailed with Marathons on there now. But, it's time to get new tires. I would like to get four that aret crazy expensive but will get the job done for a while. What are you all recomendations of brand and the price per tire if you know it or have bought some recently. I live around the galleria in Houston so if you would like to recommend a shop, please do so.

I just replaced my Marathons with Carlisle Trailer tires about two months ago. They seem to be working fine and look OK also. I think I paid about $65.00 each from Discount Tire. You might post this down in the equipment section, may get more feedback.

So far I've been really impressed with a trailer tire made by Triangle. Much less expensive than most other brands and I'd say this tire is comparable to the old Good Year Marathons before they started making them in China. Picked em up for around $60 per tire installed.

Recommend the Maxxis M8008, run them on my Skeeter trailer and Aistream trailer. Lot better tire than the Goodyear.

I know Bass Cat Boats puts "Firehawk" car tires on their new boat trailers and don't have any problems.

I bought Carlisle from Discount tires 8 years ago and every time I had trouble with tires, they replaced them for price of road hazard charge. Great tires and great place to buy all tires.

I've had carlisles and haven't had the results I wanted. Went back to marathons. Zero trouble. Any trailer tire these days are not what they used to be.

Have had bad luck with carlisies and also marathons,I keep pressure at 50psi and make a lot of long trips.Seem they cant stand up to continued long runs.Just ordered a set of Towmaster 215/75/r14.Hope they are better tires.

So far I've been really impressed with a trailer tire made by Triangle. : I have to agree with the Triangles. I have them on my car hauler and so far, no issues. Marathons are total pieces of [censored], Carlisles arent much better...... I dont buy into the trailer tire theory. A few years back my dad put LT 10 plies on our travel trailer. They lasted very well, with 2 trips to Canada, 2 trips to Vermont and numerous local miles. No issues. My Cat trailer had Goodyear passenger tires on it when I bought it. They lasted 7 years and a bunch of miles. Replaced them with BFG TAs and they are still fine. Back to the Marathons. Parents bought a new travel trailer and it came with Marathons. Went to Canada and blew 3 out of the 4 on the trip. We took the 3 carcasses to a Goodyear Dealer and got adjustment on them. The trailer we have now had Carlisles from the factory. They were decent at first, but after about 1k miles they started cupping badly on the outside and inside edges of the tread. They did last 8k or so before the tread started pulling away from the belts. Yes, I check the pressure routinelyyes they are stored on boards, yes they are covered from the sun..

I run Carlisles from Discount tires. About as good as any I've run but Discount has a great road hazard warrenty. Had the tread separate this past weekend, tire replacement cost 15.50.
I have real bad luck with any make of trailer tires, if I get 2 years out to them they did good.
