How much would a trailer for a PA 12 or 14 cost?

Definitely Jon Boat, specially for saltwater fishing. I rather get a yak over a canoe.

How much would a trailer for a PA 12 or 14 cost? Used trailers are cheap. Look around....not over 100 to 150 dollars to handle a 12 or 14 ft. boat. Many trailers are just sitting around in backyards and at the edge of fields because they no longer belong to a boat.

I have owned and fished out of both. First was the 17' Grumman canoe with the 3.5 Tohatsu on the back. It would get me into silly places, and if I got stuck, just get out and pull it. Wasn't comfortable to sit in all day. Back rest would have helped. No standing in that sucker, unless you were looking to get wet. Caught lots of fish out of it, but it was mainly used as transportation to get me places I couldn't walk to.
Currently fishing out of the boat in my signature. Wouldn't go back to the canoe!

Which brand/model Jon boat should I look for? I was thinking at least a 14' Jon boat.

I prefer a welded, heavy duty Jon boat, usually a little wider, and heavier. Holds up better, eliminates the chance of the rivets coming loose and leaking.

Another idea would be to get an otter/beavertail stealth 1200/2000. i just recently bought a 2000 and Will be taking it down on baffin bay and then hopefully lighthouse lake this weekend. If interested I can let you know how it performed.

The beavertail is $700-900. I would rather buy a gheenoe 15'4" for $1,050.

If the 2 choices are jon boat or canoe, give me the jon boat. A lot more room available to carry tackle, cooler and fuel for the motor, or battery if using a trolling motor. Seems a lot more stable to me too, not to mention the ability to add more comfortable seating. Kayaks are nice too but then again you're limited on space.

Haven't been able to find any Jon boats in my price range. I'm leaning towards a gheenoe with a 6hp motor.
How safe is it with a canoe? Would it sink pretty easily? I'm sure I might have to cross open water to hit the marshes.
