Over the last couple of weeks it seems the bass of toledo bend have taken some steroids and developed the fighting agression to go with it. Many many stories of break offs, wrap ups, and extremely acrobatic big fish. I had two fish over five sat night that jumped high enough at the boat that my partner caught them in the net and the mesh hangin down wasn't even touching the water. One of the fish thrashed out of my hands twice betwen unhooking and getting her in the livewell. It has been just unreal how strong and mean these fish are lately. Just thought i would share. I am wondering if the ph is getting better which has in turn juiced up these green crack monsters.

Higher water temps = faster metabolism = harder fighting fish.

Man i don't remember them this tough in summer. Plus i thought higher temp would also mean lower oxygen levels and consequently weaker fish. All i know is pure out MEAN

Heck in our case wasn't just thumbs. When it's good fishing they tear you up halfway down your palm. I think a fortune teller would have had a hard time on my right hand sat night.

+1. I always laugh when guys say "my thumbs are torn to pieces." That means they were catching dinks. I've got some teeth marks on my left hand from Saturday that go dang near to my wrist!

I told one of my customers I'd been fishing over the weekend and he asked to see my thumbs. The thumbs were OK, it was the palm and back of my hand that were tore up!
