Nice, I have only fished Kerrville Lake when we have camped at the Kerrville-Schreiner Park. Is this area closer to Ingram? Do you have any suggested places to park and launch a kayak?

A couple of places that are totally legit and no hassle are: UGRA lake (now Nimitz Lake) ...which is the river dammed for our water source...public boat launch by me, just west of WalMart right across the street from Mini Mart on Junction Hwy. That's where the pics in my AARP Kayak thread were taken. The launch by me is at the lower end of the lake and there's a pretty neat run upstream. Launch and head for the bridge, keep going. It's not a real long stretch, but it's a neat stretch.
Further west, go through Ingram and you'll see Ingram Lake. The public launch is at the lower end of the lake. That's where Aydan's fish pics came from and where some of the pics above are from. Launch and head up stream just a few yards and you'll be in one of the pics above. There's a real neat pool at the top of it. You think you're done and then it opens up into a small pool with neat running water.
Going further west, you can park in the right of way of almost any low water crossing and fish one stretch at a time. Between Shoemakers and Ingram has some cool stretches, some of it requires a little adventure.
A couple of easier ones are further up. Drive to Hunt and turn right at the fire station. If you pass The Hunt Store, you went 100 yards too far and missed the turn. There's several easy access low water crossings along the way. One I like to fish is directly across from the boy scout camp. The further up you go, the neater it gets.
I'm guilty of not putting as much effort into as I should. It's just too easy for me to go behind my place or to Ingram. I usually have a nice time, catch fish and don't wear myself out, but there is definitely cooler water upstream if you invest the energy.

Once you fish the pretty waters of the hill county,no lake east of I-35 will do.
