I used to do a little striper guiding on PK before the golden algae, but my only striper fishing on Texoma was years ago with a guide. So I am quite familiar with striper fishing, but not at all familiar with Lake Texoma. My dad and I would love to try Texoma, but I sold my 22 ft striper boat and fish mainly from a kayak. The only "real" boat we have now is a small 14ft pontoon boat that we use mainly for crappie fishing. It is well set up for fishing and would be well suited for striper fishing. It seems to do well on the lakes we fish, but not sure if it would be safe on a lake like Texoma. Thought maybe there might be some protected areas where we could catch some stripers without having to cross large expanses of open water. I would like to hear some yeas or nays from folks that do fish Texoma in smaller boats.

Thanks. That is encouraging info. Any suggestions this time of the year as to a good place to put in and be fairly close to some good fishing?

Ya may want to hire a guide, then take the pontoon out. Be safe.

As long as the wind is out of the south you should be fine in anything but a dingy. I've caught fish in the marina on a day when it was too windy to get out on the main lake.
