One tip I would give you is something I started doing a few years ago. Instead of using one large weight, I use two 3/8 ounce tungsten weights back to back. They are a smaller profile and when they bang against each other they will provide the noise factor as well as knock against each other in brush, rocks, etc. which tends to make them come loose a lot better which results in fewer hangups.

yeah thnx for the info! what a great topic especially this time of the year! So maybe next summer it will still be a good topic!
People tell me to find a ledge and fish that......how big of a ledge? and most of what i see is a suttle drop off, not so drastic.

Course when you DO get hung up, there goes $5 worth of tungsten...Carolina rigging is the only time I use lead anymore. 3/4 ounce lead egg...bead in front and behind.

I never had much luck with braid on a c-rig...if you use braid remember to keep the line taught. My advice would be InvisX 20 or 25 lb main line.Use a bobber stopper to protect the double San Diego jam knot.Use BigGame with Palomar knot in 10,12 or 15 lb as a leader with a small light wire hook (1 or 1.0)I prefer Zoom finesse worms, lizards or centipedes.I don't use a c-rig in less than 10fow so it's at least a 1oz bullet or egg sinker for me.I drag it pretty fast till it hits cover then I let it sit...if no strike then work it slowly thru the cover. To me the most important thing to know when fishing a c-rig is learn how to flip a hook.it will save a lot of fish.

Carolina rigs are what I have been using since it has gotten hot. believe it or not I use 15# seaguar red label, because it is a great line for the price, on at least 7 ft Med/Heavy rod. Swivel, bead, 1/2 weight, Big game 17# moss green lead line at least 3ft. Of course, you can adjust your line size to your liking.

I've been doing this, with a slight difference: 3/4 tung glass, glass bead, 1/4 tung, glass bead, followed by the swivel and leader. They seem to hit this set up a lot better than a standard C-Rig, especially on the fall. I've had multiple big fish hit this set up BEFORE it reaches the bottom, because it does change the falling action, even if only slightly.

Well, maybe.

That can save you when you get a little excited on the water and put a little too much manly into it.

Good way to break a rod.

So true! I could see its YouTube value. Lol

Well, maybe.

If you're stupid about it, yes it can be.

U and me both on the lead, braid mainline 50-65 whatever rod gets the nod for the day... And 20 lbs copolly or fluro leader, add a lizard and she is a masterpiece

I tie a palmar from my main line to my swivel and an improved clinch from swivel to leader and leader to hook. I like my strongest knot to be at the main line so if I get my lure hung it breaks below the swivel and I keep my weight and bead. Seems to work well most of the time.

I think some of y'all are spoiled rotten!.....I find this to be the most informative and active bass fishing board in the USA....I'm from Minnesota so it might seem i'm out my element down here, but, I can almost always find an interesting topic or two each and every day to read regarding my favorite pastime.....I'm always amazed at the amount of traffic on this site on an ongoing basis...I have no connection to Texas except for my Basic Training when in the Air Force, but, bass fishin is bass fishin , so my hat is off to you.....We have great bass fishin up here, just no 10 lbers.... cry
