Maybe on a houseboat. I would think that would be standard. If not it on me.

The guy I sold my last boat had his boat burn up very similar to that and his was covered. Same thing when that tornado hit Table Rock, those boats were covered.

Are you talking about the cost to get the boat out of the water? or replacing the boat? I can see where regular would not help salvage the old one

I'm talking about environmental cleanup, haz mat. Not all boat policies have this. Check yours. It can be incredibly expensive to clean up and mitigate. Just regular old liability won't go very far in a marina if all you carry is $100,000. I carry $300,00 and hope I never crash and burn in a marina.

With a Bass Boat I dont see it being that big of deal to clean up, the gas will have probably all burned, not much oil on board, and most boats that burn can still be towed and lifted out with a crane. Did that story have anything about clean up in it? If so I did not see it.

How many people keep their bass boat in a marina anyway?
Good info though.

In this particular case there may not have been a significant haz/mat situation. The potential was very high though. In a marina where there are lots of expensive boats and infrastructure all located on the water in a public use area mixed with gas, diesel, oil and electricity a molehill can turn into a mountain in an instant. Just because there wasn't a much larger catastrophe is not a reasonable example to neglect getting the right amount of coverage. It can be had for not that much money. After a policy pays the maximum guess who is left holding the bag ? Just sayin....

I don't sell it but I have this coverage on my personal bass boat policy. Burn up one of those yachts "by accident" a guy could be looking at close to a quarter mil before any talk about haz/mat cost. I hope it never happens to me.
