Sorry i attempted posting on lowrance discussion but my question was drowned out among 20 pages of other lowrance topics.

Anyone had any issues with their sonar sensitivity after the 4.1 update???

After fishing more with the new update it appears to have thrown my sonar a bit out of whack. I am having a difficult time getting it where i want it. The update definately increased sensitivity, ALMOST TO MUCH. not i see every piece of dirt, and microinvertibrate floating in the water column. I recorded all of my settings from before the update and when i set these after update sensitivity was way to high. However any amount i go down i feel like my fish archs also diminish. Instead of a white background i now have a fuzzy blue and pink background because the update increased sensitivity so much. Not sure if i like that part of it yet. Sonar is very cluttered and in my opinion, unnacceptable. Lowrance support was no help, They reccommended i install previous update.....

Any tips would be appreciated from anyone who had installed update and feel like their sonar is displaying correctly. i would love to check it against my current settings.

I had the same problems when I updated. Finally got tired of trying to adjust, so I just installed previous version. problem solved for me.

Crappie Scooter: Does the previous version still have three way screen split. I have a HDS 7. This is the only reason i upgraded to get this feature. Would the previous version be 4.0 or back in the 3.somethings.

Previous version is 4.0 and yes it has the 3 screen split. I liked the 4.0 better personally. The 3.5 didn't have 3 screen and many liked more than the 4.0. So I guess it really just depends on everyones taste.

Forgot to mention, when you updated all the info in the graph changed. You need to reselect "shallow water" and pick the correct ducer again.

When i installed update i did select shallow water and the transducer i have. So you are saying that with 4.1 you had 2D sonar troubles but with the 4.0 you felt like the picture was clear like it should be.

I have owned a 520c and now the HDS 7 and both show amazing crystal clear fish archs until i downloaded this 4.1 update. After i hear back from you i will attempt to DL 4.0 if this will fix 2D sonar sensitivity issues.

This is just my experience so take it for what it's worth... When I had 4.0 I found it easier to get a nice pretty pic, no clutter, the sens. was easy to change and not alot of clutter. Then I put the 4.1 in and I find it tougher to get the sens. where it is happy, have a bit more clutter and just can't ever seem to get it tuned just right. Also with the 4.0 my sens. was around the mid 70's and with the 4.1 it's now in the low 60's, so it def. changed with the update.

Now all of that being said, many of the fellas hated the 4.0 and liked the 3.5 they previously had.

Can you go back and put 3.5 in maybe 4.1 is while I'm having all the freezing problems in my unit in the down structure

I am having the same issue with my HDS 10 with the 4.1. I can not get the clutter out. It was beautiful before. What a mess!!

If someone has gotten their unit set up nice again after the 4.1 mess can you post the settings you finally liked? It may help some of us hackers from fumbling around messing up more than we fix.

Sorry for the late reply, I put mine back to 3.5. I have the HDS 8 and I can split it to four screens. Hope this helps.

So if I'm understanding everyone, don't update? My HDS8 are two years old. Went by Bass Pro and was told to bring in my units and they'll update them. Not sure now? Help!

Hey crappie scooter how can I get back to 3.5 and downloaded into my system my down scan is freezing between 0/5' and I'm sending the lss-1 and transducer back to Lowrance for testing
