Me and couple buddies did the 20 mile in our kayaks over the weekend it was our first real river trip man was it an experience took Alot of work went about 13.5 miles Saturday found a campsite fishing was slow and almost non-existence my buddy did mangage a 4-5 pounder at the start and other guy caught a drum after that we couldn't catch anything it was pretty low in numerous spots had to walk quite a bit but that gives the arms a rest think we're ready for another trip somewhere that has fish any suggestions ?

I love that stretch of the river, I am surprised you didn't do well fishing there. I am heading out there the middle of July, I figure the flow would be very low and will have to walk part of the way, but really looking forward to it.

I have never beem but I am told below whitney is a good spot as well.

Trying to cover that stretch of water in two days means lots of paddling and not a lot of fishing. Take that for what its worth to you; my definition of "a lot of fishing" may differ from yours. But there are lot's of fish in that stretch of river, if you know where to look and how to fish for them.

I went on the trip and agree it was a lot of paddling. We didn't give ourselves much fishing time in the deeper holes because we didn't know how long it would take to paddle the first day. Next time we'll have a better grasp of what the trip offers and fish the deeper spots longer. Was a lot of fun and will be going back soon.

Did the trip in 3 days and caught a lot of fish. Ate what we caught every night. Went a couple years ago in August.

Next time we go we also would like to make it a 3 day trip. This way we could spend as much time fishing as we want. It's also going to be easier because we'll know what to expect.

Did you catch most of your fish in the deeper holes, if not, where?
