Back from three awsome days of fishing at Lake Falcon last week. The lake is getting pretty low and fishing a lot smaalr then back in October on my last trip. We started out fishing cranks on some rocky points as we read from some other reports. Did not have any luck, not sure if it was location or the fact that there was absoulute no wind, which I could not believe. Found lots of fish in the trees on the Mexico side. Fish would hit just about anything we threw at them, although noticed that the more quality fish were on jigs, the smaller fish seemed to prefer a Texas rigged soft plastic. Got on some good fish in the trees that were lined up in the middle of the Seleno(sp?) 8' to 10' of water. These trees were loaded with fish. That's pretty much where we stayed the remainder of the trip. We were able to boat 2 over 9 lbs, and several 6's and 7's but that DD still eludes me. Had one on, she had me wrapped in the tree, was able to get her out, and when she made her first jump in open water I about had a heart attack. She was definitely a DD, I began to do the DD dance on the front deck of the boat, as I had away from the trees and I just knew I had finally caught the big one. My buddy was about to slap me, I was like "Just don't miss her with the net!!!!" About 8' from the boat she came up for another jump, I could see the 3/4oz Camo Jo Baby jig firmly planted between the eyes. She hit the water and snap!, the 25lb fluoro broke. The line was frayed bad on the last 3 to 4 feet from being wrapped in the tree. It will be nothing but braid for me from now on. I can still see that fishes mouth in my sleep. I never had a fish of that quality on the end of my line before and it is going to haunt me until I catch one. Plotting an excuse to tell the wife so I can go back ASAP!

Nice Fish. I don't blame you, I only use Braid in heavy cover.

I would get a kick out of watching the people racing every morning to these trees now that you posted this. I bet they are getting pounded!
Nice work on the big fish.
