Hey Guys, To everyone, including myself, on Tawakoni or any other lake. If we don't put back some of the fish we are catching, big ones and smaller ones, we are going to have a problem. Our big fish on Tawakoni do not reproduce period. Trust me I have been doing this a long time. There are more people on the lake than I have ever seen ever. Please listen for my sake and your fun, Please put back what you can. Take a picture and throw them back. I see it coming if we keep to many now we will not have them to catch later. So remember to be conservative with what you keep so other can enjoy our sport.

Full time Fishing Guide who has fished Tawakoni for 50 years.
Thank you, Jimmy Smith

Ive been watching this for a few years now. I can understand keeping fish to eat. BUt Hybrids and stripers are much better fresh. A lot better fresh. So why keep your 5 fish? I understand the guy how go's 1 or 2 times a year and wants to stock up or have a fish fry. But catfish is much better for a fish fry cheers . Bake or grill your hybrids fresh you will understand what I'm saying. Keep the White Bass the reproduce thumb

A very valid point, this makes the work of the LTSA all the more important.

I realize the need to advertise but I'm sure the photos and write-ups extolling the great fishing there has brought a lot of folks and their boats to Tawakoni that would have fished elsewhere.

It ain't easy making it look easy.

I have put back all hybrids I catch on Hubbard. It made me think Sunday when there was a boat close to me and wasnt catching anything. I told them what to use and how to reel it in. They started catching big hybrids and was putting them in their live well. When I saw that I thought how stupid am I.

Just curious, where are the hybrids from laying on the dock in your signature? A Texas Lake?
I dont feel like I have to tell everyone what "I" do to get in good with others.

Bass fisherman have been converting to sandbass/hybrid/striper fishing in droves ever since they introduced the much less aggressive and much harder to catch Florida strain largemouth in Texas. Combine that with TP&W budget woes, the population explosion and lack of new lake construction and it will spell big trouble for local hybrid/striper fisheries in the future.

Yep! Live bait in 23 to 32 ft of water food 4 to 6 guys in a boat. More guides coming from other Lakes. Were doomed flush wink

Good luck on that Buddy!

See you in the Cats or Crappie Section soon PS: I still think I can out run you!

I too - still miss your dad Smitty and my Day Everyday!

You know things change everyday - and for us predators - Changes is good you will be fine once again (don't worry about that),

Anything new is Goooood! Catch and Release is always, Always GOOD.

But all days are good but C&R especially Good,
Just keep what you need and release the rest (my best days are keeping none - Really that's My Best Days),

Texafornia Thats a good question! Those fish were caught 3 years ago on lake Tawakoni. I said lake Ray Hubbard. I do not keep Hybrids on Tawakoni any more!!!! If you new the others that post on here you would not make a stupid comment like that. We have formed a group LRHSA to raise money to restock Hubbard with Hybrids. Put up your money to do the same instead of just mouthing off!!!!

I always love a threat. Especially from a third party.

As for putting my money up for the restocking of Ray Hubbard, no thanks. I pay for my fishing license and annual state park pass to let the state do that and if they dont have the fish or money to stock this year or the next thats fine with me. If the state saw a need to change the limit of Hybrids and Stripers Im sure they would. Our state biologists know what they are doing. (I'm sure some would disagree)

With that being said, I also think LRHSA is great and I'm sure its members are a great group of guys. The fish that are stocked from y'alls efforts will surely improve the fishery.
