Fishing docks Saturday, got a lure hung on a dock post, moved boat in to retrieve it and in the process the rear of the boat turned into the dock, got underneath the tin siding and I now have a nice group of scratches on the top of my pretty red gel coat. I'm having a hard time shaking this mentally. I know it can be fixed but was hoping for some consolation in the short term in the form of similar stories, "been there done that", etc... Lol.

Trust,me. That ain't nuthin',man. The advantage of having a beater boat is that you just fish it.

I bought my boat when I was 18 and boy was I proud. But about a month after, I was fishing a tourney on a cypress tree lake in the middle of april. The fish where spawning on the bases of the trees and I spotted a nice female hanging out. Being young and dumb I tied my boat to a tree, not noticing the tiny stob poking out just far enough to touch the gel coat. It wasn't real windy but wakes from boat from the boat road caused the boat to rub the branch and scatched the fire out of the gel coat. I was sick to my stomach. Luckily I caught the female, won the tourney, and was able to pay someone to buff most of the scratches. But it's still noticeable to this day. At least yours was an accident...mine was stupidity!!

What did one bass say to the other???...I'd hit that

I had my new Tracker boat tied to shore next to my buddys new Bass buggy pontoon boat and excessive wakes plus plain old wave action did a job on both rigs. For us it was time to break out the Magic Wadding and the Mothers polishing balls and the Mothers metal polish and got most of the lighter gouges out and park them further apart from them on.

I bought a new Skeeter a couple of years back and not long after that I put my first big scratch in the gel coat. The first one is always the hardest but it gets easier the more you have, Lol. I bought mine to fish not to look pretty and by no means do I abuse my boat. I do try to prevent scratches but I don't back down from a spot I want to fish plus %@$# happens sometimes, thats just the way fishing goes sometimes.

I bought a new Skeeter in March. I was in the prop shaft repair line before the end of that month. Comes with the territory at Fork.

The one that eats at me was last week I was at Cedar Creek where my wife's family has a house. I went out just to work with some new electronics. I was loading up at a private ramp in a slick small cove. A kid on a jet ski turns some donuts inside the no wake cove while I'm backing the trailer in. The boat took a dozen deep punches to the port side when it went up under the dock and meet an iron L bracket.

Hey Hole Shot...you should have tried to get their hull number then called the cop's and filed a report, he broke the law by running in the no wake zone and he is responsible for his boat wake and any damage it causes - these idiots don't seem to understand this, that is the first thing you learn when you take a Coast Guard Boater Safety Course " you are responsible for your boat wake and any damage or injury it causes." and the running in a no wake zone is self explanitory, the repairs should be on him !...

When I moved to Texas from Arizona several years ago one of the best quotes I heard was "Here in Texas, we treat our bass boats like 4 wheel drives"

Tucson (has lots of scratches to show)
