Just got in from my 2nd fishing trip in the Frontier. Tried my hand at the sunfish on top water before dark out at Etoile. No sunnies but caught one tiny bass. Anchored at the bridge just before dark and caught a few small buffalo. While waiting on something to come along I was chunking a little crawfish on my UL rig. I hooked up with a 3lb drum that really gave me the business. I got him, but not before he messed up the line on the reel.
So here's some stuff I learned:
1. I'm pretty sure I'm not a big fan of my rods sticking straight up in the crate. 3lb drum on the other hand love 'em! 2. I don't need a stakeout stick. My anchor does the same job without having to deal with a 10' stick in the boat. The last thing I need is another stick poking up in the way. If anyone wants mine, it's floating toward Kingtown right now! 3. I need to break up my tackle into smaller, multiple containers i.e. bass, pan fish, terminal tackle etc. I like my big box, but it's just too big for the kayak. Not that the Frontier can't handle it, it's just to dang big to fully open it up. The wife will not like this revelation. 4. Fat men with wore out knees need a rope on yak to stand up. Period. 5. Other than ice fishing with my dad when I was a kid or fishing with my kids, kayak fishing has got to be the most fun I've ever had wetting a hook.
I also saw my first SUP up close. A guy was paddling one in the middle of the lake as I was driving across the bridge to the boat ramp. It's not that far but he beat me there. Pretty neat contraption. Sort of a fat surf board you paddle. I don't get the concept of all that paddling if you're not fishing, but whatever floats your boat!!

The only time I take my stakeout pole with me is fishing in the bays, when I am going to be leaving my kayak and wade fishing.
For lake fishing I use two claw anchors, and two brush clips.

I agree with others have said, I mainly use it down at the coast and on river trips. 3. I have done this as well. I use the old Falcon FTO 400 series boxes (small 9"x6.5"x1.5") for my bass gear (1 box for worms, 1 for other soft plastics, 1 for topwater lures, 1 jigs, and 1 for terminal) and wallet for spinner and buzz baits. Crappie/Panfish/Rainbows I have two Bass Pro XPS 3670 boxes. For the coast I have two more of the Bass Pro XPS 3670 boxes (1 for soft plastics and 1 for hardbaits). 4. Yup, those straps help. 5. Nailed it.

TACKLE TRAY will float momentarily if dropped in the water assuming thry're not packed with lead like the above. hard to save 4-6 trays but you should have time to grab 1 or 2. I try to limit myself to 2-3 trays. if i do turtle id only loose $20-$100's worth of tackle not a $1000.00's worth. better to stow it below deck or leave it in the truck (out of site) than to leave it out loose above deck IMO.

OR...a boat seat that is sooooo comfortable you don't want to stand. I wish I knew what kind of seat that is, because I would get one for the house too! I could put my Lazy Boy on the yak and I would still have to get up and stretch every half hour. My seat is fine. It's the same kind I been using for years in my flat bottom. Comfortable knees are what I need!

Thanks for the suggestions on the trays fellas. I definitely have to do something else. As for rod holders, I think I may try and mount some on the back of my seat. It swivels 360 degrees, so they would not be in the way as long as I am seated. Maybe.
