So I was fishing Saturday Motrning Early and parked my truck and trailer in the ramp parking lot. like I always do . I noticed there were only about 5 people parked at this ramp including me . Anyways When I get back to load up my boat i get all loaded and strapped down and start heading home. I then noticed a note under my windshield wiper . I pulled over and it was a note that said a silver ford F-150 hit the right rear of my trailer and left. The person that left the note gave me the truck tag number and all. I call the Sheriff dept and was told since I left the parking lot and the person that hit me left the parking lot there is nothing they can do. ( WHAT A LOAD OF BS) long story short if you hit someones trailer in the parking lot Be man enough tho own up to it.!!!!Now I am out a Fiberglass fender because someone is not man enough to own up to what could have been a simple mistake.

I have your plate number and will be watching for your truck .

Despite what the sheriff said, i would be finding out who the owner of the vehicle is and conacting their insurance company, if they have one.

That sucks! Lady hit mine a month ago and did not want to pay for it. The marina owners saw her do it and called Sheriff's department. She still refused to pay. I bugged her enough that she finally paid for it thru her ins. co.

That's ridiculous. Call the local PD and get their info. How does leaving the parking lot affect anything? What if you didn't have cell phone reception in the parking lot? Does that mean that no accident can be reported from that area? I doubt it.

Your insurance company has resources to find the owner via a tag search. They shoudl also have resources to help ID who their insurance is. You have a witness (hopefully the witness left their contact info for you).

Have you asked your ins agent about this yet?

You need to speak with DPS not the Sheriff's Office on vehicle accidents. The Sheriff's Office does not handle vehicle accidents.

Deputy T is correct. DPS handles that. I wouldnt an SO working my 10-50 (accident). And like the others said, your insurance will handle it well.
