I am in need of advice on surf line selection. I have finally put together a surf rod. It's 10', and has a Penn International 975 cs/ld on it. What size line should I spool with? I would like to use the largest P-Line that I can, but have enough line so as not to get spooled. Your experienced suggestions would be most helpful. Thanks DH10

I'd go with a braid and not mono. Something in the neighborhood of 50-60 lb should be plenty.

I use 50lb braid on my heavy rods, then when in sandy conditions top shot it with a few feet of 40lb to 60lb Ande Premium mono.

Thanks for the input Pferox. Going once, going twice, going with the 50lb. Spectra braided Power Pro.

Just keep an eye on the last 10 to 15 feet for wear, fuzzing, or thinness, you will do great.
