I let him go about his business. I'm he's enjoying his day more than if he was working.

I usually let 'em be too. Had a few folks tell me there was none of this specie or that specie in such and such body of water and I'd be pulling out that exact specie with in the hour. Not always, but most of the time. Just because I've never caught such and such specie in a lake, pond, creek, whatever doesn't mean he/she won't. They might know something I don't know or have some unique technique, lure, etc...

Let 'em fish. The biggest bass I ever was caught was this year 6 lb 2 oz. I caught him not five minutes after this guy told me I was wasting my time by fishing for LMB in there. He left, I caught my PB, and only had Facebook to share it with. I gave up telling people this or that when I was ten and I watched my little brother catch a big 'ol bass on a hula whopper after I told him there weren't any bass in that stretch of creek.

If you're catching jumbo sunfish on light gear and he wants some action... he'll note what's going on or ask. Too, you can always just ask him if he's ever caught bass in there. If he's says "No", then politely reply "Neither have I."

been fishing there twenty years. Just sunfish & catfish.

Chances are if you got into a conversation with him you'd quickly learn he knows a lot more than any of us. He probably used to be a semi-pro and came real close to making the Classic back in '92.
