The will probably be super easy for most of you pros. Over the past year or so, I have come to love ultralight fly fishing and being a noob to freshwater, I can't ID a lot of the sunfish I have been lucky enough to catch. I spent 3 days on the South Llano and caught several varieties. All the fish below were caught on the South Llano. I bought an ID guide from TPWD but still can figure them out. Some of what I caught I was able to ID so I didn't post here but here are a few I am unsure of. I am kind of a nerd about this kind of stuff so any help would be great.

1.

2. Bluegill?

3 (same as 2?).

4. Redbreast?

5. Also a bluegill?

6. Not a sunfish obviously, Guad?

Thanks for helping a freshwater noob out. Is the 3rd bluegill a juvenile compared to the other 2, which is why he looks different?

3 is a female bluegill 2 is a male.....and us good ole boys call the
"red breast" found mostly in the rivers..... a "yellow belly" .....if you look at an old texas freshwater fish series poster you will see it called that there .......
longears are normally called "pumpkinseeds" here btw also
but technically bankeralways fishing is right

You pretty much got it all right. Bass definitely looks like a Guad to me. 1st two bluegills are probably juvis (probably female juvis) the last one looks to be an adult female. In the summer, adult male bluegills usually have a red to rust colored breast. The females have that yellowish breast. Just my 2cents

we dont normally use roadrunners ......we were using them in hopes of killing the giant crappie in there that would not bite.....we use 1/32 oz. jigs mostly and some 1/16 oz jigs .....soft bodies tubes (with a float) and curly tails depending .....sometimes when we fish the curly tails they bite off the dang tails before you get to fish with it .....so mostly we fish with the tube bodies and a float for bream... in farm ponds they make a red tip ,blue body with a chartreuse tail tube that resembles a baby sunfish ....it seems to be as good as anything
we also use the little gulp minnows in public waters .....everything seems to like them
