I have a 175 Evinrude 1995 I changed the oil in the lower unit this morning. My question is how much lower unit oil should it take to refill? I know about the plug at the top and oil made to come ou it when full just curios about how much oil is needed. I flushed it (the oil that came out was a discolored, black, didn't see any water) with a quart of fresh oil and then filled it.

It varies on what each lower holds untill oil comes out of the top hole. Most will not quite hold a quart.
