Never insulted anyone Blu, just said what 10% of people "act like" when a repeated question pops up from time to time, thats all. If someone thinks they are in that 10%, then so be it.

Make sure you get all the slack out of your line especially your leader. I have broke off quite a few times with a fluorocarbon leader and 50 pound braid as main line.. on the hook set because I got excited and set the hook with out getting my line all the way tight... and the 20lb floro broke like 4 pound test. I have been very frustrated with this....So I did and experiment and I could break it in my hands when I had slack in the line. I grabbed the main line and held onto the leader...Acted like I was setting the hook and yeah leader broke...Brand new line...SO I make sure I have all slack out of line before I set the hook....Also I am going to use Mono for now on as the leader.. it doesn't break like floro as a Carolina leader..But a lot of guys use floro...

I keep it pretty simple:
Shallow: 3 ft leader with 1/2 oz. tungsten weight
Deep: 5 to 7 ft leader with 1 oz. tungsten weight
No beads for me, unless they are magnetic.
17 to 20 lbs. main line, and 15 lbs. floro leader.

Your not trying to be rude? You insult the Op and then refer to the rest of us as girls wearing panties? How can we possibly take your comments any other way? I would encourage you to be more careful with your comments. You never know who you may disturb on here.

Make up a bunch of leaders at home, swivel on one end hook on the other. Wrap them around around something like foam, stick in hook wrap, tooth pick in swivel. I enjoy sharing with TFF !

Anyone got any tips for the good ol' C-rig? Seems like I don't get bit as much as I should. How long of a leader do you use? 24-36" What pound test is your leader? I fish 60# braid with 15# green Big Game below the weight. What kind of baits do you throw on it? 10" worms, brush hogs, swim baits, trick worms - just depends on what the bite is on at the time. Weight size? If I'm fishing in calm wind and less than 15' - 3/4 oz. If windy and/or deeper than 15' - 1oz.Tungsten or lead? Lead. I don't feel like I need the extra sensitivity when I'm fishing with braid. Also tungsten is too high $$. I lose quite a few of these setups.Beads or clacker? Here is what I use...they can be bought a little cheaper than this if you find them in 2/pack.

Scalebuster - you've posted some pretty "generic" questions on there also....and guess what...they were still answered by good ol' TFF boys! In yall's opinion who makes the best 8' foot spinning rod for jig fishing? I'm putting out some new piles. I have always used oak and christmas trees in the past. I was thinking of trying some cedar and was wondering what experiences all of Y'all have had using this type of tree. Thanks in advance. I have never stayed on the Devils River side of Amistad. Im looking to rent a place over there on my next trip. Any recomendations would be greatly appreciated. Im taking my wife down there for our anniversary next week. I havent been in a few months. Any help would be appreciated. Im looking for a good place to stay near lake Falcon. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Has anyone been lately? I'm heading down tomorrow and haven't been since November. Any help would be appreciated. We will probably start on the box canyon side. Thanks in advance.

I can't express how much I've learned from this site...just the fact that many of you guys take the time to post lengthy detailed responses is fantastic! I know I've asked my fair share of what many considered pretty amateur or stupid questions but I've always been humbled by the excellent answers and advice I've been given by longtime weekend anglers, guides, and the occasional pro that happens to be trolling through. Learning things on here gives me the confidence I need to go out and try something new and practice it till its comfortable without spending a ton and looking like a complete idiot. I'm working on more C-rigging this year and have gleaned ALOT from these responses and have written several down to try on my next trip! And if I ask a stupid redundant question skip my post and go to the next, just like TV if you don't like the program instead of griping simply change the channel. So my hats off to you guys for taking the time to answer these posts with meaningful and insightful advice and I hope the day comes when I'll be good enough at a topic to pay it forward!

YankHard,
Did this guy burn you in a previous life or something? That takes some dedication to dive into a TFFer's previous posts and find specific stuff. I will say this tho...
I like it! Makes for some juicy readin. Keep it up

If were dragging up old posts I am still looking for a good place to stay on the Rough Canyon side of Amistad. My cedar brushpiles are producing and I enjoy crappie fishing with my 8ft Pro Angler. Falcon has gotten too crowded and I still think some people on this forum make simple fishing techniques like Carolina rigging way too complicated.

You've got enough info here to keep you busy. If you decide to use braid and/or fluoro, I'd suggest you don't crank down your drag. Do a few simulated hooksets in the back yard (e.g., tying your line to a telephone pole or something) and set it to where it slips a little on your hardest sweeping hookset. That can save you when you get a little excited on the water and put a little too much manly into it.
