to those who dont have a bunch of rods already rigged up with different style lures. does anyone use snaps to change out your lures or do you suggest retying every time you want to change

i always have one rod with a snap swivel, and use it as a "misc." rod, for example, swimbaits, crankbaits, chatterbaits, sometimes even spinnerbaits, just whatever i dont already have tied on. i mainly use them during tournaments when im on another boat and cant bring 9 or 10 rods. most of my partners try to get my away from them, saying they'll bust if i hook on something big.

You can use a snap on a few lures and get by with it; but we are not talking about a snap swivel here.. I am talking about as small a snap as you can get by with and they do make lots of sizes. You can quick change on most crank baits, top waters, twisted eye spinner baits, spoons, twisted eye buzz baits, waitless sinkos/flukes, whacky hook, prerigged Carlonia Rig and prerigged drupshot with a swivel attatched on top of the rig. That gives you lots of options for baits and to fish with just one rod.
Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success. I personally cannot bring myself to use them. Just the thought of loosing a hawg to a snap just don't set right with me

This is why I love TFF I never even would have tried that. Always thought it would mess up presentation. But now I know and knowing is half the battle....... GO JO!!!!!

I use Norman Speed clips on crankbaits (but I remove the split ring from the crankbait first) and also use these for some other baits Tactical Anglers clips I have never noticed any significant bad effects on lure presentation. But I'm no Kevin Van Dam either, just a "weekend angler"......

I never use snaps or swivels directly onto baits. I feel they inhibit the action, weigh down the bait, may break, are always catching on things. Thats a lot of negatives, I can tie a good knot pretty fast.
