Been thinking about possibly getting a camper shell for my 08 Chevy silverado to sleep in some weekends at the lake. I'm not crazy about the way most of them look although some of the pros with the tundra's that have em don't look bad at all. Could just be the full wrap makes em look good. Do any of you sport the camper shell? And how do you like it? How you have it set up on the inside?

I bought one last year right before deer season started. Although my wife makes fun of me and my paw paw rig, it really comes in handy.

I dont have one but have always thought about getting one of those that are like a pop up camper with mesh and nylon sides. Seems like it would be a good investment.
Personally I hate the way camper shells look like and im fine sleeping in the back seat of my truck if I dont have a hotel room

I used to have one and the only down side was having to open the camper rear window when backing down a ramp in the dark to be able to see the boat. Might have been the glass on that one camper but it reflected so you could not see out the back window, mirrors were all ok. I built a bed crossways at the front and drawers and compartments and a floor out of plywood. It was nice but added a lot of weight. I would suggest a tall one or a jckup one if you plan on staying in it much. Mine was regular height and I had to crawl around in it, and I'm 5'11". Hope this helps.

My neighbor has a camper shell he uses his for fishing. Got a ac window unit that slides into place with the tailgate down. Looks pretty neat.
I have a truck tent that I use. I also have an AC unit that I bring. Only problem is I have to erect and take it down every day. Makes my truck look like a chuck wagon.

I have one on my z 71 along with the bedrug kit. Everything is carpeted with 1 inch foam on the truck bed. I like being able to throw my dogs in there and not worrying about them jumping or falling out. I can live with them or without them. I will not put one on my new truck I just got. If I need a truck with topper I will drive the other truck.

I got one and It's to hot to justify buying it just to sleep in it's great for throwing empty beer cans and putting your rods up quickly tho.Couple fans and a portable tv hooked up to a power inverter helps a little.

I've always had one and use it for both work and fishing trips. It's a great investment and looks pretty sharp too.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know when to go fishing.

I currently have a fiberglass deck lid that is flush with my bed. I used to have a "topper" for many years. In campgrounds with electricity I would use the showerhouse and I put a good fan in there and slept fine. The drawback for me was that I used an air mattress so I had to keep the bed pretty much empty, but I slept good.

I had one on my old Datsun pickup and slept many nights out at Monticello back in the day but the backseat of my Quad cab Dodge does the job now if I don't get a hotel room. With all the crew cabs and 4 door pickups not needed much any more.

I love having a topper on my truck. I won't go without one now and it is for so much more than sleeping in it. I can put stuff back there and it stays dry and locked. I can leave things in there and not have to worry about it.
My last topper I had built a shelf that was above the fender well and was probably 3.5 foot wide. There was enough room between the platform and the other fender well that I could slide a 150 qt ice chest in. This also gave me leg room to sit on the platform also. I had plenty of storage underneath it and could double up sleeping bags and sleep comfortably back there. I would sleep back there for tournaments before my daughter became my partner.
I don't sleep in the back anymore but will not have a truck without a topper again.

I wouldnt be without a topper anymore. I made one of these 4'X8' and I keep fishin gear/rods on one side and tools on the other side. Plus I can put an air mattress on it too.
