Conroe and Gibbons Creek are not too far from you. Not sure about Gibbons but Conroe has plenty of white perch
Somerville is down that way too.

the closest lake to Katy is probably Lake Somerville. I have had many good crappie fishing trips to Somerville. One of my favorite lakes to fish.
But the boat ramps do get crowded on the weekends.

We have been catching a lot of crappie at lake somerville lately ...but for some reason they are dinky this year.....8-9 inches...a few keepers over 10 inches....Good luck!! Conroe is great on the bridges...
