I use 30 lb power pro(which is plenty big for the conditions im fishing) on some of my reels for my jigs and topwater and im sick and tired of it! first of all its very expensive and only lasts a couple of months! i cant seem to get a full day of fishing out of it either, because it knots up and backlashes so easily even when i change the agility on the reel and use kvd line conditioner! i also break off plenty fish. i think im just going to go back to 20 lb big game mono. help! thank you

Try the Berkley Fireline in 30lb test. I like it better than most braids because it's stiffer. The stiffness helps keep it from wrapping eyelets and it seems to cast better also. For me personally I don't like the limpness of most braids. Try it out, it may work for ya.

I haven't used Power Pro in a while. But 30 lb braid is very manageble and should last a long, long time. Braid doesn't bird nest as easily as mono or floro but when it does it can be a b@#$h to get undone.

Try Suffix. It's pretty round and smooth, very manageble. It costs more but you should be able to get an entire season at least out of it.

Spool half mono half braid as the mono for backing helps with the backlashing and digging in when you set the hook. Line fades pretty quick so i color the first 4 feet with a black sharpie. If your breaking off a bunch go to 65 pd braid. It can be a pain but the sensitivity can't be beat. If you haven't tried tungsten your missing out on that to. Hope this helps.

I have used power pro for awhile now and really like it. I have had fish wrap it around branches and vegitation flipping, and never had a problem! I guess it could be a bad spool, but I don't know if I believe in that ha.

been using 65lb power pro for years and it has yet to let me down. Will be spooling up another jig/topwater rod of mine with the suffix 832 since ive heard so many good things about it.

P.S ive had the same braid on my jig rod for the past year and have fished thick brush and timber on toledo bend, amistad, and twok. Still going strong. Just an occasional sharpie coloring for the first 10 ft of it every month or so.

Make sure your drag is set properly. Otherwise it will dig into the spool on hookset or if you get snagged up which will backlash on the next cast.

My experience with 30lb powerpro braid,it is ruined if backlashed. If you backlash it,cut it off or it will break off.Either set you reels so a backlash can't happen or switch over to spinning tackle.I have two spinning rods with 30 PP braid that is a least two years old.

I just loaded up a reel with 50# Power Pro & fished the hell out of it Sunday, not a birdnest all day, even after trying to uproot trees... like said above, maybe it was a bad spool.

I like 50lbs normally, under that is hard to work with

Same here. I've been using 50 lb braid for 16-17 years, first the original Spiderwire and now Power Pro. I have never had a problem with it breaking. On top of that it has no stretch and is much "limper" and easier to cast than mono or fluorocarbon.

I don't use braid for everything, but when I do I have no problem with it.

Never used 30 lb only 50 and 65 lb Power Pro. I've used it for many years. The only time it broke was last year and that line was well over 2 years old.As far as birds nest, I guess I'm lucky, I've never had one with Power Pro {that I remember, but I'm old}.
Plenty of "overruns" but never a birds nest
