When I run my automatic sprinkler system, zone 1 stays on for the entire time. All other zones cycle on and off as they should, but zone 1 stays on. It finally shuts off at the end of the full cycle, when zone 6 shuts down.
What is the cause of this? Valve? Solinoid? Evil yard gnomes? How do I fix it?

Do you know the location of the valve. if so look at it and tell me what it looks like and i will point you in the right direction on rebuilding it.

You can also take the wire off station 1 till you get it fixed

6 valves, maybe 7 if you have a master valve.

You can also take the wire off station 1 till you get it fixed That will only work if the terminal has constant output. It will not make a difference if the diaphragm or solenoid is sticking open. Sounds like the master valve is what is shutting it down at the end.

Yea it shuts off at the last zone because the master valve is closing. The valve may have a pebble or something that is not letting the valve seat properly. Take the top of the valve off and check it. If not valves are cheap. If the system is not very old you maybe be able to find the same valve
Yes I did admit defeat. Good job back to back champion

Okay, so I figured I would swap out the solinoid first just because it would be the easiest fix. When I started to loosen the solinoid, the zone started coming on.
I would have guessed that the master valve would have shut the supply down before it reached the solinoid?
Anyways, I replaced the solinoid and still same problem.

Did you replace the right solenoid on the right valve?
If so, then you may have to replace the diaphragm too.
Do you know for sure you have a master valve?
Use a volt meter to to make sure that zone one is not powered through the whole scheduled cycle.

Okay, I give up. Bruce or Sprinklerman, either of you do repair work, or are you strictly new installs?
How much am I looking at for either repair or replacing of 1 valve?
