Thinking about this service, anyone have this service care to comment. Seems as there is a $99 purchase for the hardware w/modem I presume. Not sure w/StruceScan where I plug it in, or if another network cable is needed. Then it will be 12.99 (15 w/tax..fees ?)per month on Inland Water Package. Weather has always been a big concern for me. Many Thanks for the read and to those who reply.

I got one last Febuary, it works really great. I have the 12.99 a month package. It shows the lightning strikes, where the rain is & which way the storm is moving. it comes with a network cable that plugs into the LSS-1. I have used it 4 times this year. Each time I stayed where I was & watched the storms moving around us, just like the screen pic showed it would. I will have one on my next boat.

Definitely worth the money, and then some. It has saved my butt more than once, but I've also been stupid and used the radar and lightning strike indicators to "buy" myself a little more time before heading in. Once.

Get it, trust it, and when the lightning warning says strikes are within 10 miles, get off the lake. bolt

Do the folks using, have any problems with sygnal strength? Im considering one but sometimes have cell phone connection issues. Will sygnal strength be stronger than cell phone coverage?

It works better than cell phones unless your under a bridge. It's no different than your car. I've been in some bad storms and never lost satellites.

It's unrelated to cell phone signal strength. If it can pick up a sirius or xm satellite signal, you have the weather. It's worked everywhere for me - in places where I can't make a call.

I've got mine on a HDS 5. Switch to full map screen and see all you want to see. You have to zoom out to a pretty wide scale anyway to see the storms so detail is not an issue.

Mr. Baylor - I suppose you've never been caught by surprise by a storm that came in from a direction you weren't expecting? Or one that built up quicker than you expected? Nor have you ever been fishing in a nice rain when it quickly changed from a rainshower to a thunderstorm?

I have, and if I'd had the weather radar module on my boat I could have avoided the dangerous run to safety.

Sir, I exercise "risk management" when on the water and use the HDS radar as a tool to assist me with that. The radar and lightning indicator is very accurate - ONCE I ignored the warnings and ignored my better judgement. I attempted to stay out a just a "little bit longer" because it appeared the storm would pass by us. I used the tool incorrectly.

I don't "need" an electronic device to tell me when to get off the lake. I CHOOSE to use all the resources at my disposal.
