Gary, is there a difference in the offshore and a regular 300XS?

Offshore has the trim pump that mounts in the boat and the single ram on the clamp bracket.

I went from a 225EFI ProMax to a 300XS and the 300 is quite a bit better on gas than the 225. Not an economy model, but better.

Freaking A! So with a diff gearcase ratio one would assume it might be faster too?

Both 300's have 1.62 sportsmaster gear cases. The motor thats coming off pulls the boat 98 gps with 3 people and full fuel and I might gain a little on the big end but I think the gains will be in the mid range and fuel economy. That said, I could have bought a lot of gas for the cost of the motor. I'm told that others who run this same set up are getting 103/108 gps. I'm rigging it Sat. and going to break it in in the afternoon. I'm going green.

Sweet and good luck! Do you race it or just love the speed demon factor? Where all do you run it at, other than Amistad of course.

We travel to a lot of boating events but live on Lake Travis on the upper Colorado River so we boat Travis most of the time. Rigging and braking in today so I'll have some performance info later.

Pretty wild! I was just reading about the break-in on the new 300XS. Takes some up to 10hrs but others only 7hrs to put out the check engine light. One guy did it in a little over 5hrs. Seems to be related to amount of time spent in the 3500-4500rpm range.

Here is what the sticker on the motor says.

1st hour: 30-60 sec. warm up.
no idle over 5 min.
spend majority of time 4000-5400 rpm.
change engine speed every 2 min.
avoid trimming out beyound vertical trim .
avoid using hydraulic jack plate during break in.

NEXT 3 HOURS.
Change engine speed every 10 min.
Remove static cling decal after break-in period has expired.

Pretty simple compared to the 260/280 race motors that I've broke in and broke/blowed up.
