I have a 93 Ranger 481v with a 175 mariner efi, with a 25p laser prop. Currently running 6100 rpm's wide open, trimmed out. Redline from 6000-7000 rpm's. Is it safe to run in the redline for an extended period of time? Next question is how much more beneficial would it be if I got a 25p Tempest. Gps recently quit working, so I have no idea how fast I'm going at full throttle. Any info greatly appreciated.

that EFI is max at 6200
i'd prefer to keep it at 5900-6000
and no it won't hurt to run it at 6100 at all.
with that boat a worked laser II is good, but the tempest may be a lil faster on top, but won't turn but about 5600-5700 rpms, unless you can run the motor alot higher.

My boat a 482V ran like carp with a Laser Prop.
Put a 10" Jackplate on it and run a Tempest or Fury and HANG ON! wink

My 375V - Merc 175 runs best with 23P Tempest Plus. Tempest is a great prop if you justify spending the money. If you do not have a spare then I would get a Tempest and keep the Laser for a back up.
