Use cheap ones that you're not afraid to lose (Storm for example). Let it sink and reel it in slowly. Bring it through the bush and tree tops slowly.

Learn how to fish as slow as you possibly can, then fish slower. The line thru Ospreys have a good rep out at Amistad, hope this helps.
You know the old saying
If it floats, flys, or f___s it is always cheaper to rent!
You have to decide which is more important.

Let it sink to the bottom on some type of off-shore structure..... reel it 4-6 cranks then let fall back to the bottom. They will almost always hit it on the fall!

I like to catch a day when there's a steady 10-15 mph wind and use that to drag them across the same areas that I would normally fish a c-rig. You can cover a lot of water and not wear yourself out throwing them.

To me JPost has the best advice. My best day on Amistad was using 4" and 6" Wild Eye Shad (chartreuse or dark shad) fishing them in grass (hydrilla),letting them drop to 15ft.in 20 ft water before retrieving them slowly.
These baits don't cost much, and work very well when swim baits are working.
Good luck on your trip.

Be patient. You may not get a ton of bites but the ones you do will be good.

I always use a bullet weight to get it down and keep it there, I like the 3.5 to 4" better but at slow speeds they don't seem to have good "roll" action, so i put weight on and speed up my retrieve while bait is still being kept down.

first time I threw Hudd's, I was told to go slow.. and then go even slower...while using a 5:3:1 reel.
then HAMMER em on the hookset once you know they have it.

Mono Line, always retrieve all the way to the boat. Fish use the boat as cover.... Those are two quick ones.
