This is by far not the largest soft shell I have caught, but it was pretty big. Hooked it on a live perch. Thought I had a decent catfish on my line until it got pretty close to the bank. Photographed and released her back into the wild.

Thats a nice one. My pastor and I caught one on Lake Fork two years ago that was 4' across. It had snagged the side of its shell on our trot line. Luckily, we checked it when we did or it probably would have drowned. It was the biggest turtle any of us had ever seen. We discussed taking it to the marina to have it photo'd and weighed, but didnt know the legality or if they were protected.

Cool turtle Jared. They do taste good but too much work preparing. Plus I kind of have a soft spot for turtles too.

I have always heard they are good to eat. What part do you eat and how would you cook it?
I would like to try it if someone knows how to prepare it.

Retirement best job ever.
