Looks like the big fish are still biting.

Cullem 911 is asking everyone that is wanting to keep Gibbons open to call David Godfrey, 936-873-1130 and file your complaint.

Fished Friday and Sat evening, found bass schooling in two different areas and really wacked them. Friday was more for numbers than size, Sat I found bigger fish but not as numerous as the day before. Fished chatterbait with live lft magic shad trailer for the first time and it produced more than half of the fish! Fish found 8-14 ft range.
@basscolonel-good to meet you on friday, that was a great fish you stuck on fri!

I enjoyed meeting you as well. You were in a great spot on Friday. I caught about 5 out of there on Sat morning and another 5 this evening. The 4.49 pic above was from that spot on Saturday morning. All the others were small. I hope to see you out there again soon!

Well, looks like our days at Gibbons are coming to an end.
I remember the best times I had out there while in college in the mid to late 1990's. I used to get out there in the summertime and catch good fish before the sun even came up. By 8 am the shallow bite was over.
I missed the heydays in the late 1980's early 1990's out there. This year I had a huge breakoff in the timber, I hope it was a catfish.
Good memories.
Though I will make some calls myself, I doubt we can do anything to stop it. Pretty sad.

I renewed on Saturday even though I probably won't be back until October. Maybe if enough people do this, the income created will result in more consideration towards closing?

Fished Gibbons today, windy but found fish schooling on humps and ridges. Caught in 10-14ft, dragging a CR, CB's and swim baits. Largest going 4.2#.

Caught 10 yesterday evening before the sun went down. Stuck around to fish under a full moon. Unfortunately it was behind clouds for about an hour. I fished until about 11:00 and didnt catch any additional fish.

I went out yesterday evening with my Bil for the first time in a month. Only caught one small bass in the lilly pads. Tried shallow and deep.
May go out again this evening. Anyone got any advice?

It was slow for me on Sunday morning. I think we've settled into the Dog Days of Summer when Gibbons slows down to a crawl.

I heard they were going to shut Gibbons down for fishing. Has anyone else heard that story?

Figured I better fish gibbons while its still open. Got out early sat. and threw topwater with no luck. Fished a tr worm, rattlesnake, and crankbait in 5-10. caught 6 before 8 and then slowed way down. Forgot the scale biggest went 22'' and smallest 15''. How has everyone else been fishing?

Don't close our lake! Caught the first one on Friday evening and the second one on Saturday morning (7.23 lbs and 4.49 lbs) @BassColonel, Was glancing through old posts and the fish you posted above(2nd) caught my eye. I realized that it was one of the fish I caught on Saturday. Notice the same black triangle on the gill plate, I noted the marking in case I caught her again, but she had already been caught!
