I have been thinking about putting my boat in a marina so I don't have to fight the boat ramp morons, and also gain a extra hour or so of fishing time. Is it bad for the boat to be in the water all the time? Is there special precautions to be made to the boat? Is the cost worth it? Really would like some input from all you great TFF guys out there.

Depends which marina and the price and if you're okay with fishing only one lake. I believe some of them have submergible boat bunks that allow you to lift your boat out of the water and prevent the build-up of grime on the hull but it may be an additional fee. Renting a spot should also give you rights to fish from the marina in inclement weather. Something to consider: where's the closest ramp so if you do want to go to another lake it's not a hike from the ramp to get your boat to put it on the trailer. Also, find out how far you as a renter can go adding a lockable storage unit if the marina doesn't provide that. Take an inventory of everything you have on the boat and in the locker - pictures help you to remember what you have also. Does this marina have security? Ask them about any thefts they may have had. More opportunity for an "inside job" to happen. You'd definitely want to remove and lock up any electronics you have on the boat.

You'll get water lines if you leave it in the water. Mine is on a lift at my Marina. Only way to go.

Having it in storage close by is a better option. Also much cheaper. Impossible to keep it clean and in good shape.
It takes me less than 10 minutes to go from storage to the water.

Most boat accidents happen at the ramp. See if there are slip rentals. They are usually 15 to 20 bucks a day at the coast. If you're going down for the weekend launch it on Friday and pull the boat out on Sunday.

Slips are a very expensive proposition. If you do get one you will need a lift. Leaving your boat in the water all the time will ruin. Lift + slip is going to run you $400+ a month.
