I am sorry, but this fish should have been released. I have caught a few fish in that same area that were that size or bigger: http://phkellnerfishing.blogspot.com/2012/06/shallow-water-crankbait-fishing.html
And released every single one.

I know it is not against the law to keep that fish, but all of the eggs died with it. The past few years, the San Marcos/Blanco river has started to go down hill a little as a fishery from where it was, and things like this are part of the reason.

Ok, done venting. That was my rant for the day.

Not to mention the genes that die with it.

Exactly!!!!

Have to try and change the law if you really want to do something about it.
