A boat mechanic told me to use a cattle ear tag with insecticide to keep dirt daubers out of your motor.

Those dirt daubers cause all kinds of problems! Why a cattle ear tag with insecticide? Does using a cattle ear tag keep the insecticide on it longer?

The ear tag comes with insecticide in it. I bought some at Tractor's Supply and I'm going to give it a try...They are bad here on Lake Palestine.

Also, when you remove the nests vacuum up all you can then tilt your motor up all the way and carefully rinse the rest out with a hose, being careful not to get water in the carbs.

That's good information. I'll up one for you. Use Moth Balls in an aluminum pie plate under your cover to keep out varments like rats and squirles.

You can use an ear tag to keep fire ants out of your AC unit. Moth balls alledgedly keep snakes away and will definitely run off rodents and skunks.

Can you get the ear tag at a feed store? I always have fire ants around my ac unit and my pool pump, so that really works, something you've tried and done? Is there anything negative as far as a pest that is drawn to the tag once the repellant is off. Meaning do you have to go back in X amount of time to pick the tag up?

Ok help me with this one. Do you put holes in the pie plates or just seal it up with the moth balls and another plate with tape or what?

I just mentioned the pie plate as a disposal container. You can use whatever container you want, I.E. Bowl, hubcap, coffee can, etc, etc. Just something that won't melt if it gets wet, like a paper plate. No top required, no varment or pet will disturb the moth balls. Once you remove the boat cover and remove the moth balls, the boat will air out quite quickly.

Sounds good I'm going to do that at storage time in the winter.
