DAAAANG!!! Just heard the radio interview I did with Lonestar Outdoors last week for the first time. Did not realize I sounded that hick. Have to take some speech tutoring or something.http://texasoutdoorsmedia.com/ Here is the link if anyone is interested. Episode 124.

I'm gonna invite you down to my place one weekend & see how it's done, might even grow a set if I see it done in person. You didn't answer my question about Mudcats.

I'm for any show that promotes the sport of fishing in any way. Know some of those guys, and most live farely close to me. I like the show, just would have done it on a more educational format. But hey, its TV, and reality sells better than education.

I liked Scooter & his partner, and I was rooting for the young guy's too but I knew that Scooter was gonna put a whoopin on em. Kat Daddy got on my nerves & the father son team did too. Marion & his Partner seemed alright, just kinda cocky. i hope they do another season.

Would love to take you guys out on Ccreek. May be down there on the 23rd. Would also like to have Bullet and his crew come over since I had to bail on them last weekend. They were gracious enough to have fed and housed me for a few days. I would love to take the lot of you on one of those lake in that area, that I already have an idea as to where fish will be. That takes most of the chore out of it and leaves more time to help learn.

I might not be able to get with you on the 23rd, I have a bunch of stuff going on that weekend, I don't have a boat right now, my buddy leaves his 20' Champ at my house though & he is down pretty much every other weekend, his boat has a HB SI so if we can get you here when he is here, we can do some looking too. I am probably buying an older Ranger Bass boat from another friend of mine & might even have it next week but it doesn't have S.I. (yet )

I've got a 20' Seaark Procat that I bring down. It has SI as soon as I get to Bpro and get another transducer. And hey if we get dirty we can fill it full of water again and take a bath.LOL. I've never been noodling....just reading up on it....how deep/long are the holes that you pull the fish out of? I know a spot thats about 10-13 feet deep/long....how do you get those fish out? Are there fish that you just cant reach or is there a trick to get them to come to the mouth? Or is that even allowed? how far back are the fish usually? how good are slanted retaining walls with big holes or cracks in them?

anything over 5" ill check. Most of the time the fish that you can't reach you just have to leave. Natures way of balancing things. Just don't cheat and try something illegal. If the hole is big enough you can have someone hold your feet and push you in head first, but this can also be painful. you may also get hung up. So make sure and check the hole for snags before attempting this. You may find a hole at any depth, just keep in mind what you can/can't handle as far as breath goes. The fish will usually be at the door on your first attempt. This is why I tell guys not to mess around about it too much, or be too rough with a stick. As soon as you are sure its a fish, go in fast, hand open thumb down. He will likely hit on the first attempt, if not caught a flathead will almost always retreat to the back of the hole. Blues about half and half. One things for sure, if he's blue, he will hit. in the words of Rodney Carrington LOT LOT LOT LOT!!! And the walls are awesome if they are on the right bottom. Thanks man....So do you where gloves when you stick your hand in the holes? Whats the purpose of thumbs down? Oh I think I got it so you can grab their mouth easier? Does it hurt when they hit your hand? Do they always bite or do you sometimes just feel the fish and grab it? I started off small yesterday and caught 3 and 4 pounders but they were all blues....found some bigger holes but was to chicken sh*t to put my hand in there lol

Jason,
You just let me know and I'll bring boat, gas, food, whatever we need. I'm going this afternoon, barring any freak thunderstorms and 45 mph wind and hail. I want to check those deeper holes I found one more time before this weekend. Surface temp is getting up to 82 now but you can tell it gets cooler as you swim down deeper, so i think i might have a little more time to get a big one in there still.
Cedar creek is about an hour and 40 minutes from my house. I've bass fished it a bunch, I know of a ton of old railroad stuff up in the river with concrete. There's also an abundance of seawalls, boat ramps, and bridges. Prime stuff for flatties.
I may end up going by myself this afternoon, I don't know if my buddy can get away from work and my little brother is out of town. Seems like we do better on the weekdays though, less traffic and less people watching.

It feels like a dog biting down on your hand with no teeth, is the best way i can describe it. After awhile you actually want a big one to bite you hard enough where it would hurt, as wierd as that sounds. If you don't wear gloves they'll scrape you up pretty bad and it will hurt the next day for sure. If you get any cuts, clean with alcohol, then apply triple antibiotic ointment, and let it air dry like mentioned earlier in the thread. Don;t cover with a bandage or it will stay moist and not heal good. My wife is a nurse and that's her recommendation anyway, worked well for me.

Yes, I use glove, some people I know wont, but they do not catch as many fish as frequently as I do either. My purpose for thumbs down you have part right. You can grab faster, but the true reason for me, because We trophy hunt, is that you have the chance of stopping a big fish from swallowing you to the armpit. And yes, a 40+ can eat your hole arm. A 70+ can swallow your head. Yes it hurts, for sure a big blue. Bullet has it right on the flatheads. Blues will always bite if you get in there strike zone. I've even seen big male's blow out while catching the female and eat you alive outside the hole. Check the bigger holes with a stick first. If you feel fish there is no reason to be affraid. Man up, or get your man card out the old lady's purse, and get'r done! JK. LOL. Good luck, and let us know how it goes. Thanks man....So do you where gloves when you stick your hand in the holes? Man that would help on the boat part for sure, it eats the he)) out of the tires on a 12 hr. round trip with mine. I will be down there on the 23rd. We may have to get you entered with me at the Okie tourny though if your interested. Have to check the rules first to see if we can fish in TX. If so I want to have anybody with me registered so I don't have probs. at weigh in. I'll check rules this week when I can, they have upped my hours this week and I'm jumpin through hoops. Jason,
