soo i had the day off and hit the lake around 1pm. I put in at katie woods and paddled out to the bubbles to mess with the sand bass. First throw of my net I get a few shad but aand 13inch lmb lol so I tossed him back eventually and got some decent sized shad. I ended up catching 10 sandies 6 cats and 4 lmb including the one from my net. tossed back all the lmb they were 12-13 inches and 5 of the 6 cats were 8-10 inches I got one 16 incher I kept and I tossed back the 5 smallest sandies. well I was still fishing when this guy says looks like its about to get nasty and he started up and took off! I looked towards the island only to see black sadfklsldk i start trying to pull my balled up chain anchor its hung i fight with it for 5 minutes (last time it was hung on braid with this nice lure I now own) well at this points its pooring so i cut off got about half my line back luckily! so as soon as I layed my poles down bc the lightening and started paddling it starts hailing frown that was noooooooooooo fun at all I just paddled hard and some how made it back! all and all it was still a good day fishing but I think next time ima bring a helemt with me!!!! sorry for the long post it was just a long day.

Good thing it was not some of that baseball size hail. Don't know what one would do if it was that stuff that breaks windshields. Maybe get out and under the boat if it came to that.

Hey,

I have a weather app in my phone and I have setup to display any warnings in case of bad weather.

It was free, just a thought!

That storm made up over the lake and didn't show up on Nexrad until in was pounding the lake. I watched a guy standing in knee deep water fishing through most of this storm, he wasn't afraid of a little lightning. I put up my sun screen in my windshield so I wouldn't see something really bad happen!

I was out on the lake too. It started to sprinkle and it was nice cause it cooled the air down a lot. Then out of no where it came down hard and I had to make a dash to the nearest bank. I pulled my kayak up on the bank and ran up to a picnic table with a roof over it. I didn't have shoes on and the hail was coming down at an angle so it was getting under the roof and pelting my toes. Stuff hurts man! Haha.
