At idle speed I can hear a noise coming from my gearcase/ Its a low-pitch "rattle" or clanking. I have not hit anything or ran through an sand/debris. Shifting and linkage seems fine. Any ideas? Should I pull the prop to look for something or re-grease the prop shaft?

First thing is to retighten the prop. It is always good to check the prop for fishing line. A Mercury will make this noise when not engaged into gear good.

Its a Yamaha 115. I will pull the prop, inspect, grease & re-torque. Thanks

I would check the prop like said above, spin the prop in neutral to see if you hear anythign and drain the lower unit lube to see whats in it.
You sure it is coming from the LU?

Good question---Not 100% sure it is coming from the LU. Spun the prop in neutral and zero noize. LU lube was just changed a few operating hours ago. It was fine

Do you have a heavy prop...like stainless steel? Reason I ask is that my tempest plus prop has a rattle at really low rpms...as in just in gear with no throttle. I asked two separate mechanics and both told me it was just a rattle from being a heavy prop spinning at low rpms. It has done it ever since I got the boat. I know you said "idle" though so this might not be the same.
